About me!
Hi, I'm Becka!
My babywearing journey started in 2013 when I had my second child. My eldest had just started school and I was walking the school run across fields, so the pram wasn't the ideal option. I began with a close caboo as was adamant I didn't want one of those 'long faffy wrap things'! Sadly, my babywearing days didn't last all that long with him. I found the caboo became uncomfortable as he grew bigger, although I do have some rather terrifying photos of him facing forward in it - how I wish I had known about sling libraries back then! Fast forward to having baby no. 3 in 2015 and my husband being deployed - I decided I really didn't like the caboo and in my research for an alternative I came across this thing called a sling libray! It was amazing to get tailored advice and be able to try something out before spending a fortune buying it. It was here my babywearing passion truly began. With just 23 months between the children babywearing gave me the chance to get things done and even allowed for a bit of self-care with a baby who wouldn't be put down. I even tried that stretchy faffy long wrap and loved it; it's amazing how much of a difference some in person support can make! I thought my slings had been retired until I fell pregnant again in 2020, but was so greatful for babywearing when the only times we could get out were by foot and the dog wasn't a big fan of pram friendly walks. However, this baby was tiny, but strong, she soon became uncomfortable in the stretchy wrap, but was still too small to be comfortable in my beloved connecta. The local sling library had closed down between children too, so in Februray 22 I decided I wanted to be able to provide the sevice I had found so valuable in my local area and Babi 'n' Boo was born. Baby number 4 was known as Boo and as I was 6 weeks pregnant and they were the two children I was likely to be wearing they became the namesakes for the library. Boo is now 4 and still regulary being carried on long walks, it is infinitly more comfortable than carrying her in my arms or as a piggyback and I now absloutly love the long wrap slings! I don't currently run for profit and all hire fees are reinvested back into the library to be able to buy more carriers for you to try, so if you find my advice helpful, please feel fee to donate the price of a coffee below to help with the running costs. Becka x
